  2. I am very impressed with the handheld GPS device. Is everything, and the screen is easy to see the car. However. . . I strongly hindered because the company brings its copy protection software Direct Route. Install it on my new Tablet PC (Toshiba M205), but not work, because the external CD-ROM drive. The company “promises” to fix but as I searched online user groups I’ve seen this for many months. I would not buy it again.

  3. Magellan Customer service is the worst customer service I have ever handled. They offer 30 days free update of the map, because all the products they ship out of date maps. This would be a good thing, except that it is a beautiful printed products and customer support email address on their website that listed the wrong address. I had to get through customer service by sending a bad look on their website. When she said that my unit is over 30 days to the border and they refused to give me the update. This is a bad business. Garmin has 60 days warranty, which is sent directly to their website in sight.

  5. When I first got the machine and I loved it. It was true, but it took a long time for the satellites from time to time. Many times in my Delorme Earthmate to acquire within 15 seconds, and Meridian, it takes several minutes (while driving car is on the line). The possibility of SD / MMC cards and download maps of the unit was a great general use. I have all Magellan GPS, hiking, canoeing, riding, sailing. However, the specs say the device is IPX7 standard, meaning accidentally submerge for up to 30 minutes at 1 meter from the water. I kayak, was hit by a wave of Meridian in my pocket, and it was less than 1 meter of water for less than 15 seconds, and the water made the road to unity. Magellan transmitter / Thales Navigation by e-mail and gave them a call but did not help much, although I own some of the Magellan products (including GPS partner, etc. ..). They thought I could have repaired for $ 150, that’s what the new unit cost (this was not a Platinum Edition, but it has the same form factor and the same). All customer tell me that sometimes the water can get through the keyboard area. Well, if the water comes from the keyboard area, how they can advertise that IPX7 compatible? I can not be isolated. However, the customer service I received, I do not ever think to buy another Magellan product, and probably also from the rest of my Magellan products. I think the product design, functionality, ease of use and intuitiveness large, only the product does not meet the expectations or promises. I also want the customer to keep.

  6. I bought two Magellan Meridian Color Traveler series trying my father-in-law to give. Both were incomplete. One unit works well, as long as the memory cards were not detailed maps of the unit. If so, the unit to hang forever “loading” and can never find enough satellites to get repaired. Mapping programs installed and working. Extended sessions produced by Magellan technical support advice “to return for repair.” Amazon has a great job rushing to replace me. Unit 2 arrived, and not even start (not the bottom card). Magellan technical support guided me through reflashing unit. Same error. Magellan technical support final position was to restore the equipment to be repaired. Copy protection is so good that a copy of the map software, it does not work, either on my computer. It does not complain, it just hung on and was finished by hand. I returned to another unit of the Amazon and Garmin 76CS ordererd. I’m going to throw away Magellan accessories ordered for my father-in-law to give. When I confirmed that the Magellan hardware and software for monitoring the quality a lot I do not like that any future acquisitions improved.
