  2. Before you buy advanced equipment will go to the manufacturer’s website to make the manual look for the item I have in mind the market. Strangely, the only English manual available for XL340S is a custom in the UK while I do not mind the spelling slighlty off (favorite color, center, etc.) or different words used in England (highway, city, roundabout, gasoline, etc.) and speed limit signs appear as a standard sign of the EU (km / h)), and I found it astonishing that a manual called for the United Kingdom, all images had the map of the positions in the Netherlands. This leads me to believe that they care enough for the U.S. market for a manual for the production of our (U.S.). I had two important questions: (1) there is an audio output jack so you can connect the device to the audio system in your car and (2) when the battery is low, you can use the unit for the car charger (some GPS units can not – you must charge the battery before using the device again) – an important factor for long journeys. None of my questions answered. For all these reasons – and no manual tech details. I would not buy this machine – good as it can be. Sorry.

  3. Right on the box, the device that says street. We have home, downloaded the latest maps from TomTom, etc. and put through the test. . . . No street names. . . Turn to the left and right. He fell off the difficult task of trying to get in touch via email. . . I had to read through the scenes to ensure that no response on the screen, then the opportunity to send a message to technical support. Received e-mail back from them. . informing me that we need more details, and giving. Okay, this is fine if you accept a message. . No, you’re not forced to jump through hoops and then log into their system and go through the whole process again. . Do not have time to play with these companies. . Took unit back and buy another GPS device.

  4. I had first TomTom GO 510. We use it for one year and half and stopped working, not to charge or activate. I called customer service, said that the warranty is over and that I had to go to Best Buy for repair of this item and more than I paid for the pay phone. Then I bought this point, the Tom Tom XL 340’s, from Amazon. We pay for this information three hours in my car, lost a half tank of fuel to load into the GPS. I kept pressing the power button again and again to activate. When I finally turn, is never switched off. Do not waste your time buying this item and then return. Stay at another GPS company.

  5. This TomTom was not as described. It has no mapping, I was told (repeatedly) TomTom’s customer service.

  6. I bought this to replace my Garmin Nuvi 265T because it was TomTom IQ Routes for city driving. Bad idea. The TomTom can not even remember the clock automatically from the satellite GPS, the Garmin as it can. The text to speech is not working (so I vote for the selected computer is not recorded human voice). USA Voice uses terms like “highway” instead of “highway” or “highway” and will not condemn the names of the streets. Just say the right or left, for example. On the positive side, the lane assist feature works very well. I actually believe almost every highway exit came. The menus on the TomTom is very, very difficult to navigate. For Garmin, I tap “Where?” And enter an address. About TomTom I have to navigate a seemingly endless series of menus. The software updates using the included software Home is a joke. I do not even update the card for my camera ran out of memory. I’ve tried formatting the memory in Windows unit, so I can just download the latest software via the Internet using the software, but TomTom Home via a USB-1. An interface has a serious stuttering problem when writing about the built-in memory. This means that the layout was 6-12 hours! Outrageous! I immediately got rid of this unit and bought an MSN Direct Receiver for my Garmin Nuvi 265T. The movement is real time, real-time away (it updates every 30 seconds). I have heard that TomTom Go GPS devices have zero problems, but most of them come with a mountain of old school windscreen is a lever for increased intake, such as Garmin, Magellan and others. This means TomTom Go GPS devices are likely to fall on your windshield. . . while driving and probably cause you have a wreck. Frankly I would prefer a GPS that just works (Garmin) instead of the voice of Homer Simpson, who gave me directions (TomTom).
